New item: celery! This is the first year we’ve grown celery and the plants have done so well. They are near the raised beds and get watered periodicallly which celery loves. Anna was dreaming of “ants on a log” while harvesting the stalks. My dad was dreaming of Bloody Mary’s. What does it make you dream of?

The experimental raised beds are growing some nice carrots. We believe that this will be an easier growing answer for our carrots for the future. We will be in charge of watering these beds regularly. However, germination should be even and labor be reduced for wedding and harvest. We estimate a late round of carrots for the summer CSA before the season’s end and then more carrots for the fall csa. Our carrot crop was one that was greatly affected by the warm hot summer and we’ve brought in these raised beds to help answer the difficulties with growing carrots. I’m excited how they look to be performing and should provide a nice crop for our size of CSA program.

Dinner on the Farm: We’ve been asked a lot about our Dinner on the Farm this fall/winter. Unofficially, I believe we’ll be hosting a dinner the evening of Saturday, November 10th. The dinner will be in a new location on the farm this year and we’re quite excited about all the possibilities with this change. If you have interest in attending a Dinner on the Farm, (see previous dinner info on Other Events page), please email Heather to be on our mailing list as this is a Reservations Only dinner.
