It’s been quite a month of weather. From mud and snow to begin our days of May to mud and rain to end our days of May. I think there were a few days of sunshine mixed in, but we might be limited to a handful. I’ve always enjoyed a challenge and well I guess this certainly a challenging season.

We have managed to keep making small strides forward, but we’ve had to be a slave to the sky in order to do so. After a very busy day with a farm wedding on Saturday, Sunday morning was left with a window to get some planting done. We had a crew of 4 and pushed to finally get the potatoes planted: Yukon Gold, Mountain Rose, and a variety of fingerlings. We also planted all of our winter squash transplants that were stretching out waiting to get outside. All of these plants have been happily watered in by Mother Nature herself. A warm shower and nap followed the busy weekend.

Monday morning was greeted with renewed gusto to plant all 600 tomato plants, 16 varieties in all. Finally, we are starting to see the garden take shape!

We eagerly await some sunshine and heat to dry things out a bit and let all of our farmers in the area get their plantings in. Until next time,

Eat Well. Smile Often.

Your Farmer,

Heather
