A light breeze on a warm sunny day makes for happy faces in the field. Everything is growing like mad right now and the next assault on the weeds has been surmounted to get a hold on later plantings like late cabbage and winter squash. The harvests are getting a bit bigger and more colorful each week. There are buds all over the zucchini and summer squash and baby cucs are on the vine. Soon diversity will greatly increase and the lush flavors of summer will be upon us.

Heather’s birthday was yesterday. 33 years now, and an excuse to get away for a bit. Our family went up north for the weekend and enjoyed a stay at Oak Grove Resort in Chetek. Lots of fish were caught and memories made. This resort is very clean and well kept and caters to the family experience in a casual, outdoor style. Kids played at the park while I enjoyed a glass of wine by the cabin. I hope to go back again, and my boys are certainly planning our next trip already.

We have a busy week at the farm. Theresa has left for the week to enjoy time preparing for her sister’s wedding this weekend, but will return with lots of stories next Tuesday. Thursday and Friday will be nice and warm out for our pizza nights. And then on Saturday we are hosting the Class of ’96 CFC Reunion here. A little recoup on Sunday night hopefully after we take care of some catch up garden tasks and fencing projects.

    Enjoy your holiday weekend!
