Happy Holidays!
This is our last FALL CSA share for the season. Thank you for supporting local foods and choosing Suncrest Gardens to become a part of your table this season. We try our best to make it a great experience for you and look forward to growing again for you next season.
Since we have these luscious salad greens, I’ve been truly loving a fresh salad with fruit (apples, mandarin oranges, cranraisins), blue-cheese (Castle Rock-super creamy and flavorful), roasted pecans, and a drizzle of raspberry vinaigrette. Besides being beautiful to the eyes, the combination works wonderful together and makes your table look like it came out of a 5 star restaurant.
Here’s my quick raspberry vinaigrette that uses 3 ingredients: 1/2 pint Suncrest Gardens raspberry jam, 1/2 cup seasoned rice wine vinegar, 1/4 cup olive oil. Whisk together. Add salt and pepper. You can add more things to your liking, but the kids like this simple dressing and it’s SO EASY! Sometimes I put in a little dijon mustard and some herbs.
Our WINTER CSA season will begin on Wednesday, January 9th. Same pick-up places and times. There are no more WINTER shares available for this season. Pick-up will be every two weeks through March with a total of 6 deliveries. Our pick-up schedule is always posted on the website if you need to double check anything.
We will now have an electronic sign-up system for 2013 CSA season. I have adjusted the time frames for each of the CSA Seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. Prices have been adjusted reflecting this change. The Spring season will be for 6 weeks, and Summer will be a 14 week season. Fall and Winter will each have 6 deliveries. The new schedule will have the CSA seasons more accurately following the natural calendar seasons. We will also only have one delivery in December and will not have any more deliveries until the 2nd week of January. To read more about next year’s CSA options, click here
We are now using Small Farm Central’s Member Assembler system as a means of reducing office paperwork and better organizing all of the sign-up information. It’s a very straightforward form to fill out. Payments are still made by check for now after you sign-up online to order your shares. Payment may be done in full or I am willing to have some smaller, regular payments. Soon, there should be a secure system available to send electronic checks without causing the farm to bite a 3%+ charge which comes with most credit card charges. Members may check their balances online and can update their contact info.
If you have any questions regarding the 2013 CSA seasons, please contact Heather.
Wishing you all Peace, Joy, and Good Health in the New Year.
Your Farmer,
Heather
