This week is our final Fall CSA share of the season. It feels a bit strange still referring to it as fall, but according to the calendar winter has not yet begun.  Well tell that to old Mr. Winter who dumped on us this last weekend. What a whopper! We received over 2′ of snow and there are many areas around the farm where I sink to my waist. I even had to walk a trail for the cattle to get to their new round bale and I was sinking to my chest in snow. I think snow shoes may be on the wish list now.

Since there was no school yesterday, Ashlan helped pack the CSA boxes. We had a wonderful math lesson counting radishes and working with the scale measuring out portions of veggies. I love those hands-on lessons that are fun and educational. He was sure no one would believe that he had helped, but I assured him I’d let everyone know what a great helper he was yesterday.

Here’s a picture of Ashlan by the end of the barn in our major drifting area. My shovel feels like a teaspoon trying to clear the way.

Enjoy your veggies and have a happy holiday season and blessed new year.
