The simplest way to use green garlic: substitute it for regular garlic, I chop it up like a green onion, then I use it sparingly raw, and abundantly cooked. The beginning of a soup, hummus or egg salad, thrown in with the onions at the beginning of many dishes that start with “cook the chopped onions in oil or butter…”

Enjoy the asparagus as this warm weather will be slowing it down. We may have it another week yet. Go for the grilled asparagus version, yum.

As we have a couple cool days in the forecast, you might want to consider taking advantage of the radish top soup recipe listed. The tops are abundant right now and it feels like a waste just chopping them off and throwing them away. Well, the pain is lessened if you have a chicken bucket, worm bin, or compost pile and know that the next critters in line will be having dinner with them.

The spinach is quite confused right now and the first planting has decided to just bolt, or go to seed, with the high temps. Too bad it doesn’t know that the next couple days are supposed to be back in the 60s. The yo-yo weather plays terrible tricks on the plants (and us people) sometimes, but its amazing to see the growth happening out in the garden these days. It was great having a few extra hands in the garden on Monday trying to keep the weeds in check. Way to brave the heat ladies!

So far, things are looking really good this year. Be sure to take a stroll around the garden if you come for pizza night or to get your farm share box. The end of this week, we have live music on Friday night from 6-9pm with MAGIC MAMA and family friendly show. Pizza served from 4:30-9pm both Thursday and Friday though…rain or shine!

Eat Well. Smile Often.
