This week marks the end of our Summer CSA season. Thank you for supporting our CSA farm. We work hard to grow good food for you and your family throughout the year. The value of a CSA is more than just the exchange of food, but is about the creation of relationships between people, a local farmer, and the land where their food is grown. Through these relationships, an appreciation for one’s food as well as respect for the natural growing cycles develops. Thank you for inviting us and our food into your homes and onto your plates.
This growing season had its challenges, as do most years in some ways or another. However, the irregularity of the weather seems to impact us in some way each season. I feel we were able to continue to provide quality produce in abundance and diversity throughout the season. I hope you agree.
It seems necessary to have irrigation systems in place to help get us through those really try spells. We also have come to love our season extension facilities such as our green house, old hoop house, new hoophouse with our low-tech/low-energy use soil heating mechanism, low tunnels in the field, and our growing bunks which are still in their experimental phase. Learning to better use these tools helps us extend the harvest seasons here on the farm. They also help us to farm better, and not harder in order to keep producing the same good produce for years to come. It’s good for you the eater, and good for me, your farmer.
Without your support, these projects could not happen. So THANK YOU for believing in Suncrest Gardens Farm and helping to sustain our local food system by being members of our farm.
FALL SHARES: They begin next week and then will be on an every other week schedule. If you are a fall share member, you should have received an email last week. We are sold out of the fall and winter csa shares for the year. The fall/winter delivery schedules are listed on our CSA pick-up site info page.
Pizza Party Fundraiser Review: Our pizza party was a success last Saturday. Yeah! Besides all the family fun that was had, we raised $600 for the 1st Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner which will be held on Thanksgiving Day at the C-FC school this year. Thank you to all that came, all of the volunteers, and all of those businesses that made a donation!
Dinner on the Farm: Sat Nov 10th at 5pm NOW TAKING RESERVATIONS or buy your ticket at suncrestgardensfarm.Eventbrite.com
